Just Got Put on PIP - Seriously?!

I'm so freaking furious right now. Been busting my butt in E-Commerce (marketing) for the past 3 years, consistently exceeding expectations, or so I thought. Now, out of the blue, I get slapped with a Performance Improvement Plan?! My manager is being vague, citing 'lack of ownership' and 'missed deadlines' – complete BS! The deadlines were shifted last minute and the 'ownership' was stuff outside my job description. I feel like they're just trying to get rid of me without having to offer a package. Anyone else experienced something similar? Any advice on how to navigate this garbage? Should I just start looking for a new job now and consider this a sign? This is such a joke. My skip-level isn't helping either. I think she's in on it.

That really sucks. PIPs at Amazon can be brutal. Start documenting EVERYTHING. Every interaction with your manager, every shifted deadline, every task outside your job description. Keep emails, screenshots, everything. If they're already building a case, you need to build a stronger one to protect yourself. Also, quietly start looking for another job, just in case.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. While it's easy to assume malice, 'lack of ownership' and 'missed deadlines' are pretty common PIP justifications. Exceeding expectations in some areas doesn't negate shortcomings in others. Take a hard look at your performance, even the parts you don't like. Is there *any* truth to their claims? If so, address it directly and demonstrably. Maybe salvageable?
