Sunnyvale/SF folks: Did you get the email today?

Just saw the latest WARN notice for the October 20th cuts. 78 people between Sunnyvale and SF. It feels like every time I open my email or check the portal, there’s another wave of 'streamlining.' I’m currently on one of the E-Commerce teams that hasn’t been touched yet, but the mood in the office—what’s left of it—is incredibly grim. It’s impossible to focus on sprint goals when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if your desk will be empty by the end of the month. Management keeps preaching about 'long-term priorities' and shifting resources, but they never actually say what that means for the people still here. Are we just waiting for the next round of 16,000 global cuts to hit our specific org? The total headcount reduction this year is getting out of hand. If anyone in the Bay Area office has heard anything more specific about which departments were prioritized for this latest round, please chime in. Stay safe everyone, keep your resumes polished and your LinkedIn updated. The market is absolutely brutal right now.

I’m in the same boat, just waiting for the calendar invite to appear. It feels like the company culture has completely shifted from 'Day 1' to 'Day Zero' in terms of morale. I’ve stopped engaging in any long-term project planning because the goalposts are constantly moving, and my team feels like it’s being gutted in slow motion. At this point, I’m just quietly updating my resume and waiting for the inevitable. The lack of transparency from leadership regarding the long-term vision is honestly more exhausting than the layoffs themselves.

Honestly, it’s past time to stop pretending this is just 'streamlining.' When you look at the quarterly reports compared to how they treat the workforce, it’s clearly just an exercise in padding the margins to keep shareholders happy. I moved on to a different firm last month after my department got hit, and the difference in psychological safety is night and day. If you’re still inside, protect your mental health first. The work will always be there, but they’ll replace you the second the spreadsheet says it's time.
