AEP - Anyone else seeing hiring freezes or slow downs?

Hey everyone, been at AEP for a few years now in the [mention department if comfortable, e.g., IT/Engineering/Operations] side. Lately, it feels like the brakes have been put on hiring. A few open reqs I was tracking have gone dark, and my manager is being super vague about future headcount. Just wondering if this is a company-wide thing or if it's just my specific division. Not hearing anything concrete about layoffs, but the general vibe is definitely tightening up. Anyone else in different departments noticing something similar? Curious if this is a general economic downturn impact or something specific to AEP's current strategy. Trying to get a sense of the landscape out there.

I've noticed a similar trend in my department. There's been a significant slowdown in posting new positions, and the ones that are up seem to be taking an unusually long time to fill. Managers are definitely being more cautious with their budgets and headcount requests. It's creating a bit of uncertainty, and while I haven't heard any direct talk of layoffs, the overall atmosphere feels more conservative than it did even six months ago. Hopefully, this is just a temporary adjustment.

Interesting to hear others are feeling this. My team has had a couple of roles open for months with no movement. It's a stark contrast to the aggressive hiring we saw just a year or two back. My manager has alluded to budget reviews and a 'wait and see' approach for any new hires, which isn't exactly confidence-inspiring. It makes you wonder what the long-term strategy is if they're putting a pause on bringing in new talent.
