Is AEP looking to streamline operations through layoffs soon?

Been with AEP for a few years now, and while I love the stability of the utility sector generally, I'm starting to wonder about the long-term. I've seen a few managers replaced by individuals who seem more focused on 'synergy' and 'optimization' than actual operations. There's also been a noticeable slowdown in hiring for certain roles, and some projects that were greenlit are now mysteriously on hold. Is anyone else in a similar boat? I'm not looking for rumors, but if anyone has seen any internal comms or heard anything from reliable sources about potential workforce adjustments, I'd appreciate any heads-up. Trying to plan my career path accordingly. Just want to be prepared.

I've noticed the same shift in management style and project prioritization at AEP. It does feel like there's a push for efficiency that might not always align with day-to-day operational needs. The hiring slowdown is definitely real in my department too. It's hard not to get a bit anxious when things start feeling less certain, especially when the company's messaging focuses heavily on future strategies that seem disconnected from current realities. Hopefully, it's just a phase of restructuring.

It's interesting you're picking up on those signals. While I haven't directly heard anything concrete about layoffs, the emphasis on 'optimization' and slower hiring definitely aligns with what I'm experiencing. There's a palpable sense of change in the air, and it’s understandable to question what that means for job security and project execution. Utilities are generally stable, but even giants like AEP need to adapt. Let's hope any adjustments are handled thoughtfully and transparently.
