Amex - Any whispers about restructuring?

Hey everyone, been at Amex for a few years now in [Department X]. Lately, there's been a weird vibe. We've had a few senior managers exit suddenly, and some projects are being shelved with little explanation. No official word on layoffs, but the "hush-hush" atmosphere is definitely palpable. My manager is being cagey when asked about headcount, which is unusual for them. Is anyone else in different divisions noticing similar things? Could this be leading up to something bigger, or is it just the usual Q4 budget tightening? Trying to get a sense of what's *really* going on before the holidays hit. Any insights from people closer to leadership or in other business units would be super helpful. Just trying to prepare mentally if things go south.

I'm in [Different Department Y] and I've noticed a similar slowdown in project approvals lately. It's not as dramatic as what you're describing, but definitely a shift from how things were just a few months ago. My team's been told to focus on 'optimizing existing processes' rather than kicking off new initiatives. It's made me a bit anxious too, honestly. Hopefully, it's just a strategic pause rather than something more concerning.

Interesting to hear this. While I haven't seen the same level of abrupt departures in my area ([Yet Another Department Z]), there's definitely been more emphasis on efficiency and cost savings across the board. Meetings are shorter, and there's a push to 'do more with less.' My manager mentioned some 'organizational adjustments' are being considered, but they wouldn't elaborate. The uncertainty is the hardest part.
