Amex - Performance reviews feeling more critical lately?

So, performance review season is almost here at Amex, and I'm getting a weird vibe. The feedback seems to be much more granular, with a stronger emphasis on hitting very specific metrics. It feels like there's less room for interpretation or 'good enough.' Some of my peers are feeling the same way, noting that even small misses are being highlighted more than usual. It's making me a little nervous, to be honest. Combined with the recent project shifts and hiring slowdowns, it feels like the company is really tightening its belt. Is this just my perception, or is anyone else seeing a shift in how performance is being evaluated? Trying to stay positive and focus on my deliverables, but the overall atmosphere feels a bit more intense than previous years. Anyone have insights into why this might be happening?

Yeah, I've noticed that too. It's definitely a shift from before. Feels like the goalposts have moved, and they're really zeroing in on the numbers. Makes you wonder if it's a company-wide push or specific to certain departments. Either way, it's a bit unsettling to feel that increased pressure, especially when you thought you were doing well.

I hear you. The increased scrutiny on metrics is definitely palpable. I'm trying to focus on documenting everything and making sure my contributions are clearly tied to those specific KPIs. It's a bit of a mental adjustment, but staying ahead of it seems to be the best strategy right now. Hopefully, it's just a phase.
