AMEX - Thoughts on recent hiring freezes?

Has anyone else noticed that hiring seems to have slowed way down at Amex recently? I've been keeping an eye on open roles in my department, and it feels like new positions are scarce, and even existing ones are taking forever to fill. Plus, some teams are supposedly holding off on backfills even when people leave. It's not officially announced as a freeze, but the unofficial signals are there. Curious if this is company-wide or specific to certain divisions. Trying to get a read on the overall health and direction. Any intel from other departments or locations?

I've definitely seen a similar trend from the outside looking in. My contact in risk management mentioned that their team's headcount has been pretty static, and they aren't seeing much movement on new requisitions. It makes sense given the current economic climate; many companies are tightening their belts. It's a bummer for job seekers, but probably a prudent move for the company long-term. Hopefully, it's just a temporary pause rather than a sign of deeper issues. It's hard to say for sure without internal confirmation, though.
