Anyone else noticing the tightening on OpEx?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere shifted over the last couple of months? I’ve been with ATC for a few years, and lately, the scrutiny on even minor departmental expenses has been through the roof. We keep hearing about 'operational efficiency' and 'streamlining' in every town hall, which usually ends up being corporate-speak for a RIF. My manager has been super cagey lately when I ask about the budget for Q1 initiatives. Seems like they aren't committing to anything long-term. I’m starting to get that uneasy feeling that the C-suite is prepping the books to look lean for the next earnings call. Anyone in the field hearing anything about headcount freezes or roles being phased out? Really hoping it's just standard year-end austerity, but the vibe feels different this time around.

I've noticed the exact same thing. It feels like the air has been sucked out of the office. The 'operational efficiency' buzzword is getting old fast, and the lack of clarity from leadership is creating a lot of unnecessary anxiety. I’ve seen projects that were 'critical' a month ago suddenly get put on indefinite hold without any explanation. If they are planning a RIF, I wish they’d just be transparent about it so we can stop playing this guessing game. It’s hard to stay focused when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder.

Honestly, it’s not just you. The mood has definitely darkened lately. I’ve been around long enough to recognize the signs of a belt-tightening cycle, and ATC is hitting all the classic markers. Everything is being scrutinized to the penny, and the refusal to commit to long-term Q1 goals is a huge red flag. My team is already feeling the pressure to do more with less, and it’s burning everyone out. It feels like we’re waiting for the other shoe to drop, and the silence from the higher-ups is deafening.
