That’s brutal. I’ve seen this pattern with them before—they love to frame these site consolidations as 'operational efficiencies,' but it’s really just stripping the company down to boost margins for shareholders. Working there always felt like you were just a line item on a spreadsheet, and the management style has been getting colder every year. If you are one of the 63, don’t bother waiting for a heartfelt goodbye from corporate. Just focus on your exit package, update your resume immediately, and don't take it personally. It is just business to them, so treat it exactly the same way.
Sad to see, but honestly, nobody should be surprised. The writing has been on the wall for months. Between the constant cost-cutting initiatives and the push for higher output with fewer resources, the culture has been circling the drain for a while. Everyone keeps talking about the quarterly calls, but we all knew the numbers weren't adding up in a way that protected the workforce. It’s a shame for the team in Bloomingdale, but at least the WARN notice makes the separation official so you can start the unemployment process. Hope everyone lands on their feet elsewhere.
