Anyone else feeling the pressure? Amgen seems quiet...

Been at Amgen for about 5 years now, in R&D on the West Coast. Lately, things have felt... tense. Not hearing any concrete news about layoffs, but there's definitely a weird vibe. Budgets feel tighter, there's been more talk about 'efficiency' in all-hands meetings, and my skip-level hinted that roles might be 're-evaluated' in the coming months. Just me or is anyone else picking up on this? It's hard to stay motivated when you're constantly wondering if your position is safe. Trying not to panic, but it's getting difficult.

Definitely feel the same way. Been hearing similar whispers from colleagues on different teams. Budgets are definitely tighter, and the 'efficiency' talk is constant. It's unsettling, for sure. Makes it hard to focus on the actual science when you're worried about job security. Just hoping it's a temporary phase and not something more serious.

I'm in a different department, but the 're-evaluation' talk has reached us too. It's easy to get caught up in the rumor mill and panic, but try to focus on your contributions and what you bring to the table. Companies often go through cycles of restructuring or cost-saving measures. Unless there's concrete news, try to keep your head down and do excellent work. That's the best defense.
