Frequent org charts changes—anyone else feeling the instability?

Is it just my department, or does it feel like we’re rearranging deck chairs on a daily basis lately? I’ve seen three different reporting structures in the last six months, and the constant ‘optimizing’ language from leadership is starting to wear thin. Every time an email goes out about 'operational efficiency' or 'streamlining,' my inbox blows up with people asking if we’re about to get chopped. I’ve been here long enough to know that when the talk shifts from innovation to headcount control, the RIFs aren't far behind. My manager keeps dodging questions about Q4 budget allocation and it’s making me nervous. Has anyone heard any whispers from the floor or internal town halls? Seems like the silence from the upper levels is getting louder by the week. Thinking about polishing the resume just in case, but curious if others are seeing the same patterns elsewhere in the company.

It is exhausting. I’ve been at Amgen for several years, and this current cycle of restructuring feels different than the others. The constant shifting isn't just confusing; it’s genuinely killing morale. We spend so much time figuring out who owns which process that actual work takes a backseat. It feels like leadership is more focused on shuffling boxes on a screen to look good for investors than actually supporting the teams doing the science. At this point, I’m just keeping my resume polished because nobody knows who the next round of 'efficiency' will target.

I hear you, and honestly, the 'streamlining' language is just code for budget tightening at this point. It’s hard to stay invested in a project when you aren't sure if your team will even exist next quarter. Every time I get a meeting invite for a 'team alignment' session, my heart sinks. It’s impossible to plan long-term when the goalposts move every few weeks. I used to feel proud to work here, but lately, the instability is all anyone talks about in the halls. You’re definitely not the only one feeling this way.
