Severance packages - any Amgen alums know what to expect?

Okay, so I'm trying to be prepared for the worst, even though nothing's confirmed. I'm in a senior scientist role, been here for about 7 years. If the rumors *were* true and layoffs hit, what kind of severance has Amgen historically offered? I've heard mixed things from friends at other biotech companies. Is it usually based on years of service, a flat amount, or is it negotiable? Any insights from people who have been through this before, either here or at similar companies, would be super helpful. Trying to get a realistic picture of potential financial impact.

Hey, I was laid off from Amgen about three years ago in a similar scientist role. For me, it was based on years of service, plus a few weeks for benefits continuation. It wasn't negotiable, but they did offer outplacement services, which were surprisingly helpful. Definitely try to get clarity on their standard policy if anything seems to be brewing. Good luck, hope it doesn't come to that.

While I wasn't laid off from Amgen, I did have a colleague who was a few years back. From what they told me, it was pretty standard - weeks per year of service. They seemed okay with it, but definitely stressed the importance of understanding the exact terms in writing before signing anything. Don't rely solely on hearsay; if you get the dreaded news, dissect that severance agreement carefully.
