Hiring pause seems more serious than initially thought

Used to be that open roles would get filled within a couple of months, max. Now, jobs I know are critical have been open for 6+ months with zero movement. Recruiters are super quiet, and even for internal transfers, it feels like the gates are shut. It's not just a 'slowdown,' it feels like a full-on pause that isn't being communicated. Anyone else trying to backfill or hire and hitting a brick wall? The silence around it is the most unnerving part.

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing. It's definitely not just a minor blip. I've had a few roles open for what feels like forever now, and the usual channels are completely dead. No updates, no feedback, just silence. It's frustrating to say the least, especially when you know those positions are essential for keeping things running smoothly. Makes you wonder what the long-term plan is if they can't even fill critical spots. The lack of transparency is definitely unsettling.
