Is anyone else feeling a major shift in company priorities?

Lately, it feels like the goalposts keep moving. Projects that seemed like top priorities a few months ago are now being deprioritized or put on indefinite hold. The messaging from leadership is all over the place – one minute it's about growth and innovation, the next it's about 'efficiency' and 'streamlining.' I'm hearing a lot more about 'strategic realignment' and 'focusing on core competencies,' which sounds like corporate speak for something else entirely. It's making it really hard to plan and execute work effectively. Has anyone else experienced this sudden pivot in focus, and what do you think it signifies?

I'm seeing the same thing at A.O. Smith. It's definitely creating a lot of uncertainty on the ground. We're putting a lot of energy into things that seem to vanish a quarter later. The 'core competencies' talk is particularly unnerving. Makes you wonder what's actually considered core anymore.

Yeah, that 'strategic realignment' buzzword is everywhere. Feels like we're constantly re-evaluating our purpose instead of executing. It's hard to maintain momentum when the direction keeps changing. Hopefully, this leads to some clarity soon, because the current ambiguity is impacting morale.
