It’s not just you. The disconnect between the public narrative of explosive growth and the internal reality of 'cost discipline' is getting hard to ignore. When leadership starts using phrases like that, it’s rarely because things are going better than expected. Usually, this suggests they are bracing for a softening in the cycle that they aren't willing to admit to the public yet. Just keep your head down and stay sharp, because the internal pressure is likely going to ramp up before it gets any better.
I wouldn't overthink it too much. Management at this level always tries to pivot toward efficiency right before a major scaling phase to ensure margins don't get bloated. It’s standard corporate posturing to keep middle management from letting budgets spiral out of control while we're juggling such massive backlog requirements. As long as the order book is full and the tech lead remains unchallenged, the internal tightening is just part of the grind. Everyone needs to relax a bit and focus on the technical milestones.
