Feeling uneasy about the internal chatter

I’ve been at ASML for a few years now, and the atmosphere in Veldhoven has definitely changed. We are all pushing hard to meet these delivery targets, but the mood feels heavy. There’s been a lot of talk on the floor about potential head-count reductions despite the sheer amount of work we have on our plates. It’s frustrating because we’re constantly told we are 'essential' to the global supply chain, yet rumors of layoffs are circulating through the grapevine. I’m starting to wonder if the leadership team is planning a 'right-sizing' move to boost the bottom line before the next earnings call. If anyone has actual data or has heard of any specific teams being targeted for a re-org, please share. I’d rather know what’s coming than keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The current sentiment in Veldhoven is definitely tense. Management keeps preaching about our critical role in the global supply chain, but the disconnect between that message and the constant whispers of restructuring is becoming impossible to ignore. It’s hard to stay focused on hitting those aggressive delivery targets when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder. Honestly, I think most of us are just waiting for the next town hall to see if they finally address the elephant in the room. The workload is unsustainable if they actually start cutting positions.

I’ve seen this cycle before and it never ends well for the staff. Every time the pressure builds to keep up with production demands, the rumors start flying about potential layoffs. It’s a classic management move to keep everyone working at 110% capacity until they decide to pull the rug out from under us. Just keep your head down, document everything, and don't believe the 'we are family' narrative for a second. If you’re feeling uneasy, trust your gut and update your resume. It’s better to be prepared than caught off guard when the ax falls.
