Another round of layoffs? What's really going on?

Seeing a lot of chatter and the recent news from Mshale about the 30th May layoffs. My team hasn't been directly hit yet, but the mood is incredibly tense. People are polishing their resumes, and there's a general sense of 'when, not if'. I've been in platform engineering here for 4 years, and honestly, it feels like things have been unstable for a while now. The constant reorganizations and 'strategic shifts' are exhausting. Does anyone have any actual insight into the scale of this or what the long-term plan might be? Feels like we're just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Concerned about job security and the overall direction.

Totally feel the tension. It's rough when the ground keeps shifting under your feet. Heard through the grapevine that it's less about specific teams and more about consolidating product lines that aren't hitting aggressive growth targets. Platform engineering is usually pretty core, so hopefully, you're safer than some, but I get the anxiety. My advice? Keep networking outside the company, just in case. Doesn't hurt to have options.

Honestly, 'instability' and 'strategic shifts' are pretty standard corporate jargon for 'we don't really know what we're doing' or 'we're trying to cut costs without admitting it.' Layoffs are almost always framed as 'reorganizations.' The scale is probably larger than they're letting on publicly. Don't put all your eggs in the Atlassian basket right now, seems prudent.
