Anyone else feeling the chill at Atlassian? This recent cut feels different.

Just saw the news about the latest round of layoffs at Atlassian. 1600 people, apparently, according to some reports. That's a significant chunk. I've been with the company for a few years now, and while there have been whispers and smaller adjustments before, this feels... bigger. More strategic, maybe? The articles keep mentioning a 'pivot to AI' or something similar as the driver. It makes you wonder though. Is this truly about reallocating resources for new tech, or is it a convenient excuse to trim the fat and improve margins? I've seen plenty of 'strategic realignments' over the years that didn't quite pan out as advertised. It's unsettling to be in a company that's still growing in some areas but is simultaneously shedding talent. Makes you question long-term stability and your own place in it. Has anyone on the inside noticed any major shifts in direction or priority that might explain this? Or is it just the usual corporate shuffle disguised as progress?

This news is pretty disheartening. It’s hard to process such a large reduction in force. The reasoning behind it, while understandable from a business perspective, doesn't make it any easier for those affected. Many talented individuals are now facing difficult transitions, and it's a somber time for the company.
