Got the invite for the 'organizational update' at 9:00 AM sharp. Within ten minutes, I saw the Slack channels go silent and the 'deactivated' icons start appearing. It’s confirmed—roughly 1,600 of us are being shown the door. I’ve been here for four years and have never seen morale this low. They’re claiming it’s a pivot toward automation, but we all know that’s just a convenient cover story for a massive cost-cutting exercise. My manager didn’t even know it was coming until an hour before the emails went out. If you’re currently on the chopping block, update your resumes and start pulling your personal documentation from the internal systems immediately, because they cut access fast. It’s a sad day for what used to be a great place to work. Stay strong everyone, the market is tough but there are still opportunities out there for people with our skill sets. Don't let this place define your worth.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It’s absolutely brutal how they handle these layoffs, especially when management is left just as blindsided as everyone else. The 'pivot to automation' line is such a hollow corporate script that only adds insult to injury. Take some time to step away from the keyboard, prioritize your mental health, and know that your value isn't defined by a headcount reduction. You’ll find something better where your contributions are actually respected.

Watching the 'deactivated' icons pop up in real-time is a nightmare scenario. I’ve seen this script play out at other big tech firms, and it never gets any less dehumanizing. Leadership loves to hide behind buzzwords like 'strategic realignment' or 'automation' to avoid taking accountability for their own planning failures. This company clearly isn't the stable environment it presents itself to be during the interview process. Focus on networking now and don't let their poor business decisions make you doubt your professional capabilities.
