I've only been here a few years, but I've heard similar things from the old-timers. It's definitely more process-heavy now. I think a lot of companies go through this growing pain. Maybe try finding some internal projects that remind you of those old hackathons? Sometimes smaller teams still have that feel.
I think you're romanticizing the past a bit. Sure, ShipIt was fun, but how many of those 'innovations' actually made it to production? Be real. The focus on shareholder value is just part of being a public company. Get used to it, or find a smaller startup with less job security. You can't have it both ways.
