Well, it happened. Just received the dreaded email. I'm in the marketing department, been with Atlassian for just under 3 years. It's a shock, honestly. I know people are talking about layoffs, but it still hits hard when it's you. Does anyone have experience with Atlassian's severance packages? Specifically, what's the typical notice period, PTO payout, and are there any extended health benefits or outplacement services usually included? Trying to figure out the practicalities and what to expect financially over the next few months. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated right now.

So sorry to hear this, that's incredibly tough news. Take some time to process it all. Regarding severance, I've heard from others that Atlassian is generally decent, but it can vary. Focus on getting the specifics in writing from HR. Don't hesitate to ask for clarification on every single point – notice, PTO, benefits continuation. Sometimes they include outplacement services which can be really helpful for job searching and resume building. Hang in there, it's a rough transition but you'll get through it.

Ugh, that sucks. Layoffs are never easy, no matter the company. From what I've seen/heard around here, Atlassian's severance tends to be a few weeks per year of service, plus PTO. Don't expect miracles, but it's usually enough to tide you over for a bit. Definitely push for clarity on the health benefits continuation – that's often the most crucial part. And yes, outplacement services are usually offered, though their effectiveness can be hit or miss. Good luck with the next steps.
