Severance Package Question - Need Advice!

Hypothetically speaking, if Atlassian *were* to do layoffs, what kind of severance package would be considered 'standard'? I've heard different things from different people, and I want to be prepared in case the worst happens. I'm trying to understand what to expect if they cut me out of the company so I can fight it if it's a bad deal. I've been with the company for 6 years. Is it typically based on years of service? Is there a standard number of weeks/months per year? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also, what about stock options? Are those usually vested immediately upon termination, or do they expire? I'm really nervous about this. I need to protect my family.

Six years should get you a decent package. While it varies wildly, a common baseline is 2 weeks per year of service. So, you'd be looking at around 12 weeks minimum, maybe even 16 if they're feeling generous. Don't forget to negotiate things like outplacement services and continued health insurance coverage. Look at your contract carefully for any clauses mentioning severance or termination policies.

Honestly, 'standard' is a myth. Atlassian's an international company, so location matters *a lot*. US packages are usually better than in, say, Australia. They'll likely try to lowball you. Do your research on similar tech layoffs recently, and see what others received. And don't sign *anything* without having a lawyer review it. It's worth the cost to make sure you're getting what you deserve and not signing away your rights.
