Same here. I’ve noticed the exact same shift in tone. Every time leadership mentions 'operational footprint,' I start looking for the exit sign. It feels like they are reading from a script written by consultants who have never stepped foot inside a store. The lack of transparency regarding headcount is honestly exhausting, and the silence from the top is deafening. If they’re planning a massive restructure, they should just own it instead of hiding behind vague corporate jargon. Morale is hitting rock bottom.
You're definitely not imagining it. I’ve been through a few of these 'strategic alignment' phases before, and this feels much colder. They love to throw around buzzwords to distract us, but the uncertainty is starting to affect the floor teams too. It’s hard to stay focused on Q3 targets when everyone is whispering about potential layoffs in the breakroom. Just keep your head down and update your resume—these management transitions rarely end well for the people actually doing the work.
