Baker Hughes: Is This the New Normal?

Another round of layoffs at Baker Hughes, 174 people gone on July 9th, concentrated in the Houston area. It's hard not to feel anxious when this keeps happening. Are these targeted cuts, or is it a broader sign of instability within the company or the industry? I know things are cyclical, but this feels more relentless than usual. It makes planning for the future really difficult. Anyone else in NW Houston feeling the pressure? Trying to understand the bigger picture here. Is anyone thinking about jumping ship proactively, or are we all just riding it out?

It's definitely unsettling to see these continued layoffs, especially when they seem to be happening so frequently. I'm in the NW Houston area too, and the vibe has been tense for a while now. It makes you wonder if it's just a temporary dip or something more systemic affecting the whole energy sector. It's tough to focus on long-term career goals when job security feels so uncertain, and I can only imagine how stressful this is for those directly impacted.
