Anyone else feel like the other shoe is about to drop?

I'm in Global Tech and honestly, the vibes are just...off. We had that all-hands last week where the SVP kept talking about "efficiency" and "streamlining processes." Which, you know, is code for something bad. My team hasn't been directly told anything, but a buddy in Consumer Banking said they're being "re-org'd" and that usually means cuts. I've been here for 7 years, seen this movie before. I'm not sleeping well. Anyone else feeling this, or am I just being paranoid? Thinking of updating my resume just in case. Seriously, anyone else in Tech division nervous? What are your teams hearing?

You're not alone. I'm in a different division, but I've noticed the same shift in language from management. The constant emphasis on cost-cutting is concerning. Remember 2008? They used similar buzzwords right before things went south. Start discreetly polishing your resume now; it's better to be prepared than caught off guard. Network like crazy, too. You've got seven years of experience, that's valuable. Good luck.

Honestly, I think you're jumping the gun a bit. "Efficiency" and "streamlining" are just standard corporate jargon these days. Every large company is looking to optimize, especially with the current economic climate. Your buddy's "re-org" could be just that – a restructuring, not necessarily layoffs. I'd wait for concrete news before hitting the panic button. Focus on your work and try to stay positive. Worrying won't change anything.
