Anyone else feeling super anxious about potential cuts in tech?

I'm in Global Technology and honestly, I can't sleep. Been with the bank for 7 years, and I've seen a few restructurings, but this feels different. They keep talking about 'efficiency' and 'streamlining' during town halls, which is corporate code for layoffs, right? I'm a VP, and while I feel relatively safe, I'm worried about my team. We just lost a senior developer last month, and it feels like we're already running lean. Has anyone heard anything specific about the tech org? Which departments might be most at risk?

I totally get the feeling. 'Efficiency' is *always* a red flag. I'm not in tech, but over in Compliance, and we're hearing the same buzzwords. Seven years is a good run, though! Maybe start quietly dusting off the resume, just in case? It's better to be prepared than blindsided. Good luck to you and your team, VP.

Honestly, this is pretty standard for big banks, especially around bonus time. They always threaten cuts to scare people into working harder. Unless you're consistently underperforming or have a terrible manager, I wouldn't panic *too* much. Focus on your deliverables and showing your value. Don't get caught up in the rumor mill; it'll just make things worse.
