Just saw the latest WARN filing for the Louisville office, and it’s hitting exactly like we all feared. Even though the official word is around 500, we know how this works—they bleed the headcount out in phases to avoid the media firestorm that comes with a massive, one-time announcement. My manager pulled me aside yesterday for one of those 'alignment meetings' that usually precedes a bad conversation. The vibe in the office is absolutely toxic right now. Nobody is working, everyone is just refreshing the internal portal and checking private slack channels for rumors. If you're currently in the middle of a project, my advice is to document everything you do. They’re looking for any excuse to prioritize 'performance-based' exits to avoid paying out the full severance packages. Stay safe, keep your networking contacts warm, and don't assume your tenure keeps you immune. It’s a numbers game at this point, and unfortunately, we’re just the ones getting subtracted.

It’s the same old playbook they’ve been running for years. They call it 'strategic realignment' or 'efficiency optimization' to keep the stock price propped up, while the actual employees who keep the lights on are left checking their calendars for that dreaded invite. If your manager is already giving you the 'alignment' talk, start dusting off your resume and locking down your contacts today. The company doesn't care about the toxic environment as long as the quarterly numbers look clean on the spreadsheet. Don't wait to be blindsided when the next round hits your department.

I went through one of those 'alignment' phases back in 2022, and honestly, the uncertainty is worse than the actual layoff. You spend every day waiting for the other shoe to drop instead of focusing on your tasks. It’s brutal to watch everyone around you lose focus while the leadership keeps sending out those tone-deaf emails about 'resilience' and 'shared goals.' If the vibe is already shot, you’re better off looking for a role at a firm that isn't constantly shrinking. Take the severance if you have to, but don't hold your breath waiting for things to get better.
