Seeing those efficiency gains, but where are we going?

Heard a lot about the internal cloud savings - $2B a year is no joke. On one hand, that's great for the bank's bottom line, right? We're supposed to be the ones making that happen. But then you see headlines about massive layoffs elsewhere, and even though nothing's confirmed here, you can't help but wonder. Are these efficiency plays a precursor? Are we building systems that eventually make some roles redundant? It's hard to feel secure when the focus is so heavily on cost reduction. Anyone else connecting the dots or am I just overthinking this?

The internal cloud savings are definitely impressive on paper. It's easy to see how that translates to significant cost reduction. However, your concern about potential job impacts is totally valid. The industry is shifting, and tech advancements do often lead to a re-evaluation of roles. It's a tough balance between improving efficiency and ensuring stability for the workforce. Hopefully, there's a clear strategy for how these changes will impact career paths and opportunities within the company, beyond just cost savings.
