Anyone else seeing the lack of new project approvals?

It’s been radio silence on new initiatives for three weeks. Every time I try to push something through for approval, it gets kicked back with a note about 'budgetary oversight' or 'prioritizing core business activities.' It feels like we are being put on autopilot. I was told a month ago that we were hiring for the open analyst roles, but now the job postings have been taken down without a trace. My manager won't look me in the eye when I ask about the timeline for the projects slated for next year. It feels like they are just waiting for a signal from the top to pull the plug on anyone who isn't considered critical infrastructure. Is it just my division, or is the freeze happening across the board? It’s getting hard to stay motivated when it feels like we’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

It’s the same story across the board. I’ve been hearing whispers about a major restructure coming down the pipeline, which is usually why they pull the plug on new headcount and freeze all initiatives. When management starts dodging eye contact, it’s a clear sign that they already have their marching orders and we’re just waiting for the official announcement. Don’t hold your breath on those analyst roles; if the postings vanished, the budget for them was likely reallocated to cover operational gaps elsewhere. Keep your head down and start polishing your resume while the ship is still in harbor.
