I've noticed the same thing on the floor. It's tough trying to keep up with stocking, customer service, and the register when there are only a couple of us on the floor during peak times. It feels like they're really pushing for efficiency, which is understandable with the rise of online shopping, but it definitely impacts how much personal attention we can give to each person walking in. Hope it doesn't get worse.
From what I've heard through the grapevine, there's a big push to optimize operations across the board, and that includes staffing models. The focus seems to be on leveraging technology and streamlining processes to handle the increased online demand. While brick-and-mortar is still important for brand experience, the strategy is definitely evolving. Corporate is looking at how to make each store as productive as possible with the resources they have.
