Is the Milwaukee site winding down for good?

Saw the recent WARN notice for the 32 people let go on the 30th. It feels like death by a thousand cuts at this point. I’ve been with Baxter for a few years now and it’s getting impossible to ignore the morale drop. Every time we hear about a 'restructuring' or 'efficiency initiative,' we know exactly what it means. Is there any transparency left? Management keeps talking about long-term growth and core business, but it feels like they are just trimming headcount to make the quarterly numbers look prettier for the Street. If you’re currently in the Milwaukee office, how are you guys holding up? Are we expecting another round before the end of the year, or is this it for the 2024 cuts? Really trying to decide if I should start actively applying elsewhere or if I’m just being paranoid. Any insight from people close to leadership would be appreciated.

It’s honestly exhausting watching the same pattern play out over and over again. Management loves throwing around buzzwords like 'synergy' and 'efficiency' while the people actually doing the work are left wondering if they’ll have a desk next month. I’ve seen enough of these restructurings to know that when they stop being specific about the future, it’s usually because they don't have one that includes us. The silence from leadership is the loudest thing in the building right now. Don't expect any real answers—they're just keeping the ship afloat long enough to hit those stock targets.

I wouldn't hold my breath for transparency. When the WARN notices start hitting, the writing is usually on the wall for the entire site. It’s a classic corporate play to drip-feed layoffs so they don't cause a massive panic all at once, but everyone with their eyes open knows the strategy. They don't care about morale or the culture you've built; they care about the margin expansion they promised the shareholders. If you’re seeing these patterns, start updating your resume. It’s better to be ahead of the curve than waiting for the next round of 'efficiency initiatives' to finalize.
