Is anyone hearing rumors about Q1 restructuring?

Saw the WARN notice for the 57 spots in NJ back in September, but the silence since then feels heavy. I’m in the medical segments and our leadership has been cagey about project timelines for next year. We keep hearing about ‘streamlining operations’ and ‘cost synergies’ in every all-hands meeting, which is code for more cuts. Anyone else getting the feeling that the Q4 numbers were just the start of a much wider reduction? Trying to decide if I should start updating the resume now or wait until the next town hall. The uncertainty is honestly worse than the actual layoff at this point.

The 'streamlining' talk is definitely a red flag. I’ve been through three of these cycles at BD, and the playbook never changes—they lead with buzzwords before the actual announcements hit. If management is being cagey about timelines for next year, they’re almost certainly waiting for the dust to settle on budget approvals before dropping the hammer. Honestly, if you’re already questioning the stability of your role, updating your resume now is just smart insurance. It’s better to have your options open while you’re still employed than to be scrambling when the inevitable email arrives.

You aren't imagining things. It’s been eerily quiet across the board, which usually means leadership is trying to minimize turnover until after the bonuses or stock vesting periods close. Every time they pivot to 'cost synergies,' it’s a direct signal that the headcount is being evaluated against the bottom line. Don't let the corporate silence lull you into a false sense of security; start reaching out to recruiters quietly this week. If you’re right, you’ll be ahead of the curve, and if you’re wrong, you’ve just refreshed your professional network. It’s a win-win.
