Severance packages - what are people seeing?

With the latest round of cuts, has anyone actually seen the paperwork for the severance packages yet? I know a few people who were caught up in the most recent reduction and they’re saying the offer is basically just the bare minimum requirement. I’m trying to gauge if BD is tightening the purse strings on the way out or if this is the standard 'market rate' package they’ve been using for a while now. I’m worried that if I get hit in the next wave, I won’t have enough of a runway to find something else in this market. The job boards for MedTech feel incredibly slow right now compared to a year ago. If you were impacted recently, are they offering any actual outplacement support or is it just a check and a handshake? I’ve been trying to decide if I should stay and wait it out or just start applying elsewhere before I’m forced to. Any insight from those who have been through the exit process recently would be appreciated.

I was caught in the last reduction and the paperwork was definitely underwhelming. It feels like they are doing the absolute bare minimum required by law, nothing more. Don't expect any generosity or extra padding here; the company is clearly focused on protecting their bottom line rather than supporting long-term employees during the transition. If you are expecting a cushion to find a new role, you should start aggressively cutting your personal expenses now because the runway they provide is barely enough to keep you afloat for a few months.

Honestly, the packages have been trending downward for a while. I’ve spoken with a few colleagues from previous rounds, and it seems like BD has tightened the purse strings significantly compared to how they handled layoffs a few years ago. It’s no longer the 'standard' comfortable exit; it’s strictly transactional and strictly minimal. They are definitely prioritizing the numbers over people at this point. Start looking for other opportunities now, because relying on a decent severance package is a huge gamble in this climate.
