Anyone else notice the shift in manager attitudes recently?

Is it just my store, or is the air getting thinner? Lately, the management team has been acting incredibly cagey. They’re constantly in the back office doing 'corporate calls' and won’t give us a straight answer about the Q4 labor budget. I’ve heard whispers from a few folks in neighboring districts that their headcount has been frozen for weeks. Usually, when they start trimming the Geek Squad hours this aggressively before the peak season hits, it’s a precursor to a wider 'restructuring' announcement. I’m just trying to figure out if I need to dust off the resume now or wait until after the next quarterly earnings call. If you’re at a high-volume location, have you noticed them stop backfilling open positions? It feels like we’re being hollowed out from the inside while they keep telling us that 'in-store experience' is our top priority. It's getting harder to justify staying when every shift feels like a countdown.

Honestly, I’ve been feeling the same tension at my location. Every time I ask about hours or staffing projections for the holidays, my manager gives me that classic corporate stonewall. It’s like they’re waiting for an email from HQ to tell them how to handle us, but they’re terrified of saying anything that might leak before the official announcement. The lack of transparency is killing morale; you can tell everyone is just waiting for the other shoe to drop regarding those rumored layoffs.

You aren't imagining things. Our store manager hasn't left the back office for more than ten minutes at a time all week. The vibe in the breakroom is awful because nobody knows if they'll still have a shift come January. They keep preaching 'flexibility' and 'operational efficiency,' but we all know that’s just code for slashing the payroll to meet some arbitrary target set by people who have never stepped foot on our sales floor. It’s definitely not just your store.
