Feeling the pinch at Best Buy - anyone else?

Hey all, been with BBY for a few years now in a store role. Lately, it feels like things are getting... tighter. Hours are being cut for some people, and I've heard whispers about certain departments being 'restructured' which sounds like a corporate euphemism for something else. We had a 'town hall' last week where management talked about 'optimizing operations' and 'focusing on core competencies,' which felt pretty vague. No direct mention of layoffs, but the vibe is definitely off. Anyone else in retail seeing similar trends? Is it just my store, or is this a company-wide thing? Just trying to get a sense of what's going on before I start updating the resume, you know?

Yeah, I've noticed that too. My friend who works there mentioned similar things about reduced hours and a general sense of unease. It's tough when the company culture seems to be shifting, and it's hard not to worry about job security when buzzwords like 'optimization' start flying around. Hopefully, things stabilize soon for everyone working there.

It's understandable to feel that way when you hear about hour cuts and restructuring. Those corporate phrases can be pretty unsettling, especially when they're not followed up with clear explanations. It's a shame when the focus on 'core competencies' seems to come at the expense of employee well-being and stability. Sending good vibes to those affected.
