Hearing rumblings about another round of store cuts

Anyone else getting the sense that we’re about to see another round of 'restructuring' at the store level? I’ve been hearing from a couple of managers that leadership is putting a heavy emphasis on labor hour optimization again, which usually means they are looking to cut headcount under the guise of efficiency. It feels like the same playbook from last year, just accelerated. My GM has been super tight-lipped during our last few huddles, and when I asked directly about staffing projections for Q3, they just brushed it off and told me to focus on selling TTS. The mood in the breakroom is honestly pretty tense. Everyone is checking the internal portal every thirty minutes waiting for some 'all-hands' announcement that we all know is coming. If you're currently in a role where your hours have been stagnant or you've been seeing weird scheduling gaps, I’d honestly start putting your resume together now. Better to be prepared than caught off guard when the ax falls. Has anyone else heard anything specific from their district leads or is it just my region that’s acting like the sky is falling?

Honestly, it’s the same cycle every quarter at this point. They talk about 'efficiency' and 'optimization' while the sales floor is already a ghost town. My store is barely running with the skeleton crew we have now, and if they cut even one more body, the place will completely fall apart. The management stays silent because they probably don't know anything themselves or are just waiting for the corporate axe to drop on a Tuesday morning. It’s exhausting trying to keep up with these impossible metrics when you have no support.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. Every time they start talking about 'labor models' and 'operational agility,' you know exactly what’s coming. They treat the staff like an expense to be minimized rather than the actual drivers of the business. It’s clearly a repeat of last year's strategy to bolster the bottom line for shareholders before the fiscal year ends. If you’re seeing the GMs get quiet, it’s a massive red flag that the layoff lists have already been finalized. Keep your options open and update your resume now.
