Slow season or something more at BBY?

Hey everyone, long-time lurker here, usually on the tech side of things but seeing some weird vibes in my store lately. We've been told it's just the usual Q1 slowdown, but the chatter about potential shifts and maybe some 'reorganization' is getting louder. My manager is being super cagey, which isn't unusual, but it feels different this time. Seeing fewer people scheduled, even for normally busy departments. Anyone else in retail seeing this? Are there whispers about corporate stuff trickling down, or is it just the retail rollercoaster I'm used to? Trying to gauge if I should be updating the resume or just weathering the quiet storm.

Yeah, my store's been feeling it too. We're definitely seeing reduced hours across the board, and it's not just the usual post-holiday lull. My manager keeps saying it's 'standard procedure' but the lack of communication about any potential changes is definitely fueling the gossip mill. It's tough when you're not sure what the future holds, especially when you rely on those hours. Hope it's just a temporary dip and not a sign of bigger things to come for us.

I've heard similar rumblings from friends who work at other BBY locations. The 'reorganization' talk seems to be a common theme. While Q1 is always a bit slower, the intensity of the whispers and the tight-lipped management suggests something more significant might be brewing behind the scenes. It's a stressful environment when uncertainty hangs in the air. Fingers crossed it's just a strategic adjustment and not something that impacts our jobs negatively.
