The vibe at corporate is absolutely miserable right now

Current corporate employee here. The morale is basically in the basement. There have been way too many 'town hall' meetings that end with zero substance and a lot of corporate jargon about 'optimizing our operational footprint.' We all know what that actually means. The rumors about another round of cuts aren't just chatter anymore; the level of security and IT locking down systems after hours has been weirdly specific lately. People are terrified to ask questions during the Q&A sessions because you can tell leadership is already looking for reasons to cull the bottom-performing departments. I’ve seen three senior managers leave in the last two weeks, and they weren’t 'retiring.' Honestly, if you aren't already looking for a way out, you’re playing with fire. The company is pivoting so hard toward services and subscription models that they don't seem to care who they burn along the way. Stay safe out there.

I was in the store recently and could feel the tension. You’re definitely not imagining things; the staff seems completely checked out and walking on eggshells. It’s wild how quickly a place goes from decent to a ghost town of nervous employees. If they are locking down IT systems, get your resume polished and start looking elsewhere immediately. Nobody should have to work in an environment where they’re waiting for the other shoe to drop every single day.

Hang in there. I left the corporate side about six months ago right before the last wave of 'optimizations,' and it was the best decision I ever made. The jargon is just a way for leadership to insulate themselves from the reality of how these decisions destroy people's lives. When the town halls start sounding like scripts written by a bad AI, you know the culture is already dead. Trust your gut—if you’re seeing the IT lockdown signs, it’s already over.
