Budget cuts and project prioritization - anyone else?

Starting to feel a real squeeze on the project budgets lately. My manager has been putting a lot more emphasis on ROI and justifying every expense, which is understandable, but it's also slowing things down. We're having to get multiple approvals for things that used to be pretty straightforward. It feels like they're trying to conserve cash, which, given the recent news about Aduhelm, makes sense but is still a bit concerning. Has anyone else noticed this shift? Are specific types of projects being put on the back burner? Wondering if this is a sign of bigger things to come or just a temporary belt-tightening measure.

Definitely feel this. The Aduhelm situation has put a spotlight on every dollar spent, and it's trickling down. It's not just about ROI anymore, it's about absolute necessity. Expecting more scrutiny on anything that isn't directly tied to existing revenue streams or critical R&D. Might be a good time to polish those business cases and emphasize the long-term value, even if it means a longer approval cycle.

Yep, the atmosphere has definitely changed. It feels like a real tightening of the belt across the board. What used to be a 'go' is now a 'wait and see' or 'can we do this cheaper?'. The emphasis on justification is palpable. Personally, I'm trying to focus on projects with clear, measurable outcomes that are harder to argue against. Less about innovation for innovation's sake, more about efficiency and impact.
