Anyone else feeling the pressure to be in office more lately?

Is it just my team, or is there a quiet push to get people in the office full-time again? I’ve noticed a lot of 'strategic alignment' meetings appearing on the calendar that definitely could have been emails. Rumors of headcount adjustments have been floating around since the start of the month, and I’m starting to wonder if the RTO mandate is just a way to prune the headcount without announcing an official RIF. The atmosphere in the office is pretty tense—people are keeping their heads down and avoiding eye contact near the water cooler. If you’re not physically sitting at your desk by 8:30 AM, leadership is definitely noticing. I’m curious if anyone else is seeing this pattern in their department or if this is just standard post-earnings nervousness. I’ve been updating my resume just in case, because the 'culture' feels like it's shifting into something much more hostile. Would love to hear if anyone has heard anything concrete or if it’s just paranoia.

It's definitely not just your team. We’re seeing the exact same pattern here. The 'strategic alignment' meetings are a massive red flag—they always seem to ramp up right before management starts pushing for more desk time. It feels like they are creating a paper trail of attendance to justify future cuts or simply trying to make the environment uncomfortable enough for people to resign voluntarily. Keep your head down, update your resume, and don't take the sudden office pressure personally; it’s a standard corporate maneuver to trim the fat without paying severance packages.

Honestly, the shift back to full-time office work is transparently about headcount management. When they can’t announce a formal RIF without spooking investors or dealing with bad PR, they just make the daily grind impossible for those who found a rhythm remotely. It’s a classic way to force attrition. If you’re feeling the tension, you aren’t imagining things. The culture has shifted from output-based performance to simple presence, which is a major warning sign. Start discreetly looking elsewhere now while you still have the leverage.
