Is BlackRock slowing down hiring?

I've been keeping an eye on open roles at BlackRock for a few months now, and it feels like the pace has definitely slowed. There are fewer new postings, and some that were up for a while seem to have been taken down. My recruiter contacts have also been a bit quieter than usual, which is unusual for this time of year. I'm not sure if this is a company-wide thing or just specific to certain departments, but it's definitely a change from the hiring momentum I've seen in the past. Anyone else in the asset management space seeing similar trends, or specifically at BLK? Curious if this is a sign of impending layoffs or just a strategic pause before a new initiative. Trying to get a read on the market.

I've noticed a similar trend across several large asset managers, not just BlackRock. The market has been quite volatile, and many firms are likely taking a more cautious approach to headcount expansion until there's more stability. It's a prudent move given the economic headwinds. I suspect it's less about a slowdown in ambition and more about strategic recalibration in response to external factors. Keep monitoring, but don't be discouraged; hiring often picks up again when the outlook clarifies.
