Performance review season + no budget = anxiety?

So, performance reviews just wrapped up, and usually, there's some talk about bonuses and potential raises, even if it's just the standard corporate speak. But this year? Crickets. Absolutely nothing concrete about budgets for compensation. Combined with the rumors about potential headcount adjustments and the general market slowdown in asset management, it's hard not to feel a knot in your stomach. My manager was incredibly vague when I asked about salary expectations for next year. It feels like everyone's just waiting for a shoe to drop. Is this just the new normal in the industry, or is BlackRock specifically tightening things up significantly? Anyone else in a similar boat, feeling the uncertainty about their compensation and future here?

I'm feeling the same exact anxiety. My team is already stretched thin, and the lack of any clear budget communication is unnerving. It feels like we're all walking on eggshells, waiting for the other shoe to drop. I've heard some whispers about BlackRock freezing hiring in certain areas, which definitely doesn't help calm nerves. Hoping for some clarity soon, but preparing for the worst feels like the only sensible option right now.
