I've heard similar whispers from friends within the firm. It definitely seems like a more subtle approach to workforce adjustments this time around. Instead of mass firings, it's more about targeted role eliminations and absorbing duties, which can be incredibly unsettling for morale. It creates an atmosphere of uncertainty where no one feels truly secure, even if their specific role isn't on the chopping block. Hopefully, they'll provide some clarity soon.
That sounds like a pretty standard corporate maneuver when trying to cut costs without causing panic. My previous company did the same thing a few years back – roles just vanished, and suddenly everyone was wearing two hats. It’s a disingenuous way to handle things, making employees feel disposable and undervalued. It breeds distrust and makes it hard to focus on the actual work when you're worried about being the next 'redundancy.'
