4000+ gone at Block, is this the new normal?

0x7036…5650Just saw the news about Block. Over 4000 people let go, almost half the company. The official line is 'efficiency gains' and integrating new tech, which we all know is code for something else. It's wild to see a company this size make such a drastic cut. What does this mean for the rest of us in fintech? Are these massive restructurings going to become the norm every time a new technology emerges or a quarter is slightly down? Feels like we're all just disposable assets. Anyone else feel this uneasy about the future after reading this? How do you even navigate a career when this can happen seemingly overnight, with little warning and broad justifications?
