Did you get hit today? Let’s share notes on severance

Trying to keep a level head while everything feels like it's falling apart. I was part of the group let go earlier today. I’m still processing the email, but I want to see if we can consolidate what everyone is being offered in terms of severance packages. I’m seeing a lot of confusion regarding the healthcare coverage extension and the bonus payouts. Is everyone getting the same standard package, or are they tiering it based on tenure or role? If you were affected, what’s your situation looking like? I’m mostly concerned about the benefits cliff. I have a prescription I need to refill and I’m worried about the gap before I can find something new. Also, has anyone had any luck getting a straight answer from HR about the stock vest? My portal is already locked, so I can't even see my equity status. I’ve heard rumors that some people are getting legal counsel involved to review the separation agreements. Is that worth the cost, or is it just a generic package that they aren't willing to negotiate on anyway? I’m trying to avoid making a rash decision while I’m still emotional, but the lack of transparency is making it impossible to plan for the next month. Let’s try to keep this thread focused on the logistics of getting out of here cleanly.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s a total gut punch. From what I’ve gathered talking to a few others, the severance seems to be tied strictly to tenure, which feels pretty callous given how much we all poured into the company. I’m still combing through my packet, but the healthcare extension is shorter than I expected. Don’t sign anything immediately; check if there are discrepancies in your bonus calculations compared to the internal policy. We really need to keep sharing info so they can’t lowball us individually.

Hang in there. I was also hit today, and the lack of transparency is infuriating. My package seems standard, but it definitely doesn't account for the current job market or the equity we were promised. Regarding the healthcare, it looks like they are only covering us through the end of the month, which is honestly pathetic for a company this size. I’m planning to consult with an employment lawyer just to make sure the release waiver isn’t hiding anything restrictive. Let’s keep this thread updated as more people post their findings.
