Is anyone else feeling sick seeing the stock jump 20%?

I’ve been staring at my bank account since the news broke this morning, trying to figure out how to stretch my severance, and then I see the ticker. The market is cheering for 4,000 of us being kicked to the curb. It’s absolutely disgusting that a human life—my mortgage, my kid’s tuition, my health insurance—is just a rounding error that results in a double-digit stock pump. Management keeps talking about 'restructuring' and 'streamlining,' but let’s call it what it is: they’re trimming the fat to make the balance sheet look pretty for the next quarterly call. They think if they use enough buzzwords about efficiency, we won't notice that they’re just desperate to show growth. I’ve been here for three years, and I’ve watched this place lose its soul piece by piece. You don't build a product that impacts millions by slashing half your workforce overnight. I’m genuinely worried about the people left behind. The remaining teams are going to be drowning in technical debt, and for what? A temporary bump in share price that will likely evaporate the second the market realizes there’s no one left to actually keep the lights on. If you’re one of the ones who stayed, start dusting off your resume today. The 'restructuring' never stops at one round.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s a bitter pill to swallow when you realize the market views your livelihood as nothing more than a line item for operational efficiency. The disconnect between executive bonuses and the human cost of these cuts is infuriating. Don’t let their 'restructuring' narrative get to you; you’re not a rounding error, you’re a person. Take some time to breathe and focus on yourself before diving into the job hunt. We’re all rooting for you to find something much better soon.

That 20% jump is exactly why I stopped believing in the 'we are a family' corporate facade years ago. It’s brutal logic: cut the headcount to boost the margins, and watch the algorithms celebrate. It’s not just you feeling sick—anyone with a pulse sees how hollow this 'streamlining' talk really is. While the analysts pop champagne over the cost savings, those of us on the inside are left cleaning up the wreckage. Keep your head up, update the resume, and don't give this company another second of your mental energy.
