Surviving the last round - what's next?

Made it through the last round of layoffs about 8 months ago (team lead, BIT). Honestly, it was brutal. Lost a lot of good people. Now that things seem *relatively* stable, but still volatile, I'm seeing people outside my immediate circle getting poached by other companies. I'm still here, trying to stay positive and do good work, but the survivor guilt is real. Plus, the workload has definitely increased to cover for those who left. Anyone else in a similar boat? How are you mentally coping and planning your next move, whether it's staying put or looking elsewhere?

Hang in there. It's completely understandable to feel that way after what you've been through. The survivor guilt is a heavy burden, and the increased workload isn't helping. Try to focus on what you *can* control – your own work and well-being. Maybe look into some mindfulness or stress-reduction techniques. It's tough, but remember you're not alone in feeling this way. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, and don't be afraid to lean on any support systems you have outside of work. This phase won't last forever.

Honestly, 'relatively stable' at Block sounds like a dream. My team got cut entirely six months ago, and I've been freelancing ever since. It's a different kind of stress, for sure, but at least I'm not dealing with the internal politics and the constant dread of the next announcement. If you're seeing people poached, maybe start quietly updating your own resume. Just in case 'relatively stable' turns out to be a temporary illusion. Don't get too comfortable.
