The "efficiency gains" narrative at Block feels off

Reading through the news and seeing all the posts about the recent cuts at Block, I'm really struggling with the narrative being pushed. They're talking about "streamlining operations" and "embracing new technologies" to improve efficiency. Sounds corporate and all, but it feels like a smokescreen. We've been hearing about how these new tools are supposed to make us *more* productive, not redundant. So, why the massive headcount reduction? Is it just a thinly veiled excuse to cut costs drastically? Or is there something more fundamental happening that isn't being communicated? Anyone have insights from inside or a different perspective on what's driving this? Feels like a lot of people are being sacrificed for a potentially misleading story.
