Worried About My Severance Package - Need Advice

I've been hearing rumors of layoffs at Block. My role (Senior Data Analyst) is relatively safe, but honestly, it's always in the back of my mind. I'm trying to figure out what a typical severance package looks like here. I've only been with the company for 2.5 years, so I don't expect anything huge. Does anyone have experience or insights into what kind of salary continuation, benefits, or outplacement services Block offers? Any info would be appreciated. Trying to prepare myself, just in case.

Hey, I understand the anxiety. When the rumors start swirling, it's tough to ignore. While I don't know the exact details of Block's current severance, generally, tech companies offer around 2 weeks of salary for every year of service. So, you might be looking at 1-2 months, plus accrued vacation payout. Make sure to negotiate! They might budge a little, especially if you've been a good performer. Start updating your resume now; it's better to be prepared than caught off guard.

Honestly, don't get your hopes up too high. Two and a half years isn't a huge tenure. While Block *might* offer some salary continuation, it's probably not going to be life-changing. Focus on what you *can* control: polish your resume, start networking, and discreetly look for other opportunities. Outplacement services are rare these days, but definitely ask if it's offered. Best of luck!
