Anyone else blindsided by the 162 cut in Herndon?

I’m still trying to process the notification I got this morning. 162 of us in Herndon are officially out as of July 31st. The communication was as cold as I expected—a calendar invite out of nowhere followed by a quick Zoom call. They keep talking about 'operational efficiency' and 'realigning resources,' but it really just feels like they’re gutting the legacy teams to pay for more AI integration that nobody asked for. Is anyone else feeling the anxiety about what's next? The market is already flooded with talent, and seeing these WARN notices pop up across the industry is making it hard to stay positive. My manager couldn't even give a straight answer on why my specific team was targeted, just kept reading from the script. I’ve been here for four years and this is the 'thanks' we get? Don't even get me started on the severance package; it's a joke compared to what the stock has been doing lately. If you’re still inside, watch your back. If you’re outside like me, good luck to everyone. We’re going to need it.

I am so sorry you are going through this. The way they handle these layoffs is incredibly dehumanizing. Getting a random calendar invite for a Zoom call is a cowardly way to end someone's career. It seems like they have stopped valuing their long-term employees entirely in favor of short-term numbers. Please take care of yourself and try to reach out to your network as soon as you are ready; there are definitely people here who understand exactly how brutal this feels.

It is frustrating to see the company prioritize these kinds of drastic moves while leaving the actual people who built the platform in the dark. That corporate jargon about 'realigning resources' is just a mask for poor management decisions. Everyone is feeling that same anxiety right now, and the lack of transparency from leadership is honestly infuriating. I hope you can find something better quickly, because staying in a place that treats its workforce as a disposable expense is only going to drain you further.
